Authentic Metafora Table designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli 1979 made of 4 geometrical shaped legs which sustain a large thick glass table top. The cilinder is made of travertine, the square is made of black marquinia marble, the pyramid is white carrara marble and the sphere is rasotica. A wonderful combination of colors and materials enhanced by the clear glass top. The legs can be freely positioned although recommendation is shown in the last picture. The table top is 120 x 120 cm or 47.24" x 47.24" inches and the height is 22 cm or 8.66" inches.
Since it's introduction in 1979 this table immediately caught critics' attention due to its design and the material chosen which are stricter related to historical references; the four geometrical shaped legs are the four form of Euclidian geometry, cube, cylinder, pyramid and sphere. Primary forms combined with noble materials such as marble. The table top lays on top of the four elements, it is not affixed or screwed into any of the pieces.
Husband and wife Lella and Massimo Vignelli have played a very important role in the history of Italian design. Lella was born in Udine in 1934 and graduated in Architecture in Venice. Massimo was from Milan and he studied architecture in his hometown. Both worked in the field of industrial design, graphic and furniture design. In 1971 they founded the Vignelli Associates in New York implementing their repertoire and working for the major furniture brands such as Poltrona Frau, Poltronova and others. Some of their works are exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of New York, the Cooper Hewitt Museum and the Die Neue Sampling of Munich

Mario Marenco is an Italian architect born in Italy in 1933. He was also a designer and an Italian entertainer working in television. He graduated in architecture in 1957 and later opened his design studio, DEGW located in Rome, starting designing community buildings. He collaborated with some of the biggest Italian furniture and lighting companies such as Artemide, Arflex, Bernini and B&B Italia, Mobil Girgi, and Poltrona Frau. His collaboration spanned from furniture to the car industry, designing display stands for Fiat and Alfa Romeo

Rare Italian space age coffee table manufactured by Arflex and designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune. Circa 2008 .Not in production anymore, this item is now rare and collectible. The coffee design resembles a whirlpool that twists forming a void hole in the center. with transparent glass top and rigid polyurethane structure it is a very captivating modern coffee table. Diameter 37.4", height 9". 95cm diameter 23cm height. The condition is very good. The tabletop is not fixed on the base, it just lays on top of it therefore it is very easy to move. Made in Italy.

Provenance of an important house in Connecticut, this is a custom made console made by an outstanding design gallery in New York City, Eric Appel Gallery. This console was custom made specifically for a very important client and it is 113” long, 31” high and 20” deep, one of a kind. The wonderful combination of two high end and versatile material: the heavy bronze base feel light and introduces clean lines in a game of intersecting curves, while the thick and heavy lucite top appears to effortlessly float over. Italian Vintage Travertine Table from the 1970s, outsourced from a private estate in Italy, vintage from the 1970s ‘Striato’ Travertine from Tivoli caves just out of Rome, also known as Roman Travertine. Round top with smooth edges and a hexagonal base of 9” 3/4” each side. Beautiful veneer of the natural stone a combination of beige and light gray nuances typical of this kin of travertine, very porous stone filled and matt finished with natural imperfections. Wear consistent with age and use, the top presents faint normal stone scratches due to use.

Nuvola Rossa Bookshelf, design Vico Magistretti 1977 for Cassina. V shaped frame with 6 shelves, four of which are removable; diagonal struts. Shelves length 100 cm. Structure with hinged joints allowing the whole unit to be folded and easily stored or moved. Height 192 cm and depth 39.5 cm. Earlier edition, sourced by a private estate sale, beech wood. Excellent condition. With brand label under base at bottom.
Vico Magistretti was an Italian Architect, urban planner and industrial designer. Graduating in 1945 at the Politecnico Milan he worked at this father’s firm. His designs were exhibited at the Triennale and R.I.M.A alongside other influential Architects such as Franco Albini, Ignazio Gardella, Marco Zanuso, Castiglioni brothers and many more. He worked for important design furniture and lighting companies such as Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Fontana Arte, Fritz Hanses and many more. Some of his important designs include the Maralunga Sofa which won the Design Award ‘Compasso D’Oro’ in 1979, the Eclipse table lamp in 1966, Chimera Lamp (1969). Magistretti passed away in 2006. An exhibition dedicated to his career was held at the Triennale Milan in September 2021.

Rare ‘Tondara’ Coffee Table, manufactured by Artemide 1968, stamped under the table top Tondara, Artemide Milano, Design: Emma Gismondi Schweinberger, Made in Italy. Later versions design attributed to Vico Magistretti . Made of Reglar and ABS. Please note, the color of the table is a very dark brown moka, on some pictures might look black but under direct daylight it shows it's true dark brown color. The item is in good vintage condition and present surfaces scratches and some imperfection on the base, due to its age and material which is prone to heavy use.

Emma Gismondi Schweinberger was born in Verona in 1934 and went to Milan to study architecture. She later married Ernesto Gismondi owner and founder of the iconic lighting company Artemide. She dedicated her life to architecture and interior design. Some of its major design successes were the ‘Chi’, ‘Aminta’ and ‘Jota’ Lamps, the famous ‘Dedalo’ umbrella holder which is part of permanent design collection at the Museum of Modern Art New York.
Vintage condition: present scratches on the surfaces and some imperfection on the base. Please refer to the pictures and for any further image contact us.
